ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

First One Adventures’ internship program is an exciting leadership development program for young adults who passionate about working with the youth. This 6 months program promises to stretch participant to go beyond and above their call of duty. The program includes a weekly leadership development and training, social skills, facilitation of camps and day to day operations at First One Adventures.

Interns play a significant role in our day to day operations of our campsite. From taking care of animals, maintaining the campsite, preparing for camps, engaging with schools away from camps and running post camps programs. There is much to learn and to give in our program. Interns are surrounded by a community of First One Adventures staff who serve as mentors to advance our interns to the next phase of their lives.

Interns will be expected to serve on the camp staff from July – December 2018. Interns are responsible for facilitating programs, activities and running camp operations at First One Adventures; this includes guest relations, mentoring young people participating in camps offered by First One Adventures.

DURATION AND OPERATIONS AT THE PROGRAM

The first class of interns will resume duty from the 1st September 2018 to 21st December 2018. During the first week of the program interns will undergo orientation and team building to set the mood for the year ahead.

Interns are expected to work and attend development training, 5 days a week. With a total of 40 hours a week. Our operating hours are between 08H30 to 16H30. During camps interns will be roasted according to the need of camps with hours ranging from 07H30 to 22H00. Interns maybe be required to work during weekends to facilitate camps.

Interns will be allowed 10 days of breaks throughout the 6 months, in August and October 2018.

    LOGISTICS DURING THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

    Interns are offered accommodation on a sharing bases and three meals a day at the campsite during the course of the internship program.

    Interns who wish to travel, will need to make reliable travel arrangements to ensure that they do not compromise their participation in the program.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?

The internship program is open up to young people between the ages 18-25 (At least 18 years of age by the 20 June 2018) years of age. First One Adventures anticipates a placement of up to 10 Interns from July to December of 2018. Interns must have personal maturity to be open and flexible in a new and challenging environment.

Candidates are required to have a minimum Grade 12 NCS Bachelor endorsement with a English Home Language pass of 55% or English First Additional Language at 65% in order to participate in the program. Interns must also be confident in their use of the English language in conversation.

ARE INTERNS PAYED?

Yes, Interns will be given a stipulation per month to compensate their traveling expenses and other expenses that may be incurred to perform their duties.

Accommodation and catering at the campsite will be covered by First One Adventures.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES

  • All applicants must fill out an application form, together with a motivation video no later then 10th May 2018. (If you do not receive communication from us not later then 3 working days from us after sending in your application, send us an email at interns@firstone.co.za)
  • Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed no later than 28th May 2018

Outcomes will be communicated on the 31st May 2018.
